Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a creative writer and designer born in Northamptonshire. Being a fan of all things fantasy, story writing has always been an easy way to escape the real world and sprinkling a little magic into life. When living in London, writing was an escape to the stresses of London life and was how my first novel Shadows became a reality. Now back in my hometown, I still finds writing a great way to unwind and to bring enchantment into my world and others.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is Shadows.
I was inspired by a dream and old ghost stories I used to tell friends. However, I love mystery, the paranormal and fantasy so this too has inspired my writing.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can’t say I have any unusual habits I’m sure things I have done to get ideas or put an end to a writing block someone else must have done.
However, being an illustrator too I will sometimes sit and draw, this helps my mind clear and ideas spring to mind.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are so many amazing authors out there that inspire me and Have definitely influenced my style of writing. I love modern authors such as Becca Fitzpatrick, Cassandra Clare, Stephenie Meyer, Giavanna Fletcher, Louise Rennison (when I was younger she was my idol).
However, the old greats have 100% influenced me such as, Jane Austen, J.M.Barrie and Charles Dickens.
What are you working on now?
At the moment I am mostly focusing on the sequel to Shadows, which is definitely the most requested thing from everyone who has written the first.
But I have lots of other ideas which I will be putting to paper very soon.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think when promoting your book, you need to get out there on as many platforms as you can, the more your book is seen, hopefully the more interest it drums up.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just keep writing. There will be times which you want to give up or you feel what you have written is a pile of crap but when reading back these might be your favourite parts. Just write, write, write and you can achieve whatever you want!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You comfort zone is a lovely place, but nothing can grow there!
What are you reading now?
I’m reading Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick! Apart of an amazing group of books!
What’s next for you as a writer?
For me as a writer I am hoping to release my second book and keep getting my work out there for people to enjoy!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
