Malvika Patel is the author of the delightful children’s book ‘Who Made a Hole in the Chicken Coop?’ In a former life, she was a business analyst. She finally gave in to the ideas brimming in her head to write them into stories.
Her children’s books entertain and challenge little minds.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Who Made a Whole in the Chicken Coop. I was inspired by Mark Haddon’s book, The Curious Incident of the Dog at Night-Time.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Sometimes exact words come to me when I am sleeping. I have got many epiphanies for books while I am in the shower. Maybe I should sleep a lot more!

What are you working on now?
Finishing my second children’ book – If I Lived in an Igloo
Working on a historical fiction novel inspired by true events.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am currently promoting using social media.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Produce exceptional quality of work. And then market it like it’s on fire.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Read a lot to write better.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have ideas for many children’s books and a half-written novel. It will keep me going for a few years.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – I can read this book many times to find the answer to the meaning of life!
