Interview With Author Marek Porubský
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I just started writing. I only have one book now. But in high school I used to write poems for our school magazine. I don’t know how good they were, my opinion is too subjective, but teachers said they were pretty good. When you write a poem, you have to put something from your heart into it, otherwise it looks fake. My younger brother got inspired by me and started writing too.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name is: The power of humor: How to beat stress with laughter.
I see people who are too stressed and don’t have time to slow down and laugh. In this short book, I’m trying to offer a how-to manual on how to lighten up situations. Because when we have a smile on our face, we can find a lot of free time, we slow down and are not so hurried.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write at night when I’m sleepy. I have a clearer mind and can concentrate more easily.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Unlimited power by Tony Robbins.
What are you working on now?
I have just finished this book and I plan to write a series of short books. Each book will be like a recipe for the cakes we need to live life at a deeper level.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I just started promoting. You were my first choice.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t be afraid to start. You can start small, your first book doesn’t need to be bg. I think we need to find our voice first.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you want to overcome fear, just take imperfect action.
What are you reading now?
Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman.
What’s next for you as a writer?
To write another bok :).
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Birch Bark Roll of the Woodcraft Indians by Ernest Thompson Seton
Unlimited power by Tony Robbins
But I would rather take a knife. It is more practical in this situation 😀
