Interview With Author Margaret Gaffney
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been writing since I was a small child, but my first well-constructed novel was conceptualized when I was 16. I spent years working on it, not realizing that I have was growing up and making the character grow up as well. The sequel will be published shortly.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is the second in my trilogy, Of Traitors and Warriors: All the Queen’s Men Book II. It’s an exciting sequel to the first installment, and finds the characters well established in their roles. There is magic, espionage, revolution, and love triangles!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I will not start a new project until the current one is finished. I also love writing at night when everyone else is asleep.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My sense of romance comes from Georgette Heyer. My love of fantasy comes from Tolkien and the many great indie fantasy authors I’ve discovered. My love of big words come from the classics like Shakespeare and Alexander Dumas.
What are you working on now?
I’m writing the climatic chapters of the last book in my trilogy, All the Queen’s Men.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Connecting with real people on Instagram and building friendships with them.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t be afraid to rewrite stuff that could be better.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Deal with one catastrophe at a time.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading The Grand Tour by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Of Traitors and Warriors: All the Queen’s Men Book II will be out in the next few weeks. Book III is almost ready for edits, and then I have an intense standalone book planned that I’m very excited about!
