Interview With Author Margaret Marr
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live in the mountains of western North Carolina where I work for Carolina Outfitters, a popular rafting company, taking reservations. I work through the summer, then take winters off to focus on writing. To date I've written over 15 books in various genres with the latest being a young adult paranormal.
I live on top of a mountain with my two dogs Digger and Axle who keep me company no matter where I roam. I love to hike and just be outdoors whenever possible.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is BANSHEE the second book in the Hayton County Supernatural series. I've always been fascinated by banshees so I wanted to incorporate one into a novel. I wanted to make her beautiful and mysterious, so the reader can't quite figure out if she's good or bad.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write one chapter a week, polish it some, then move onto the next chapter in the next week.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I'm a huge Dean Koontz fan. His books are poetic and compelling with a hint of paranormal matter. I also like Stephen King when he's not using his writing for a political stand. I love books by Amanda Stevens who sends chills down my spine with her eerie plots.
What are you working on now?
I'm working on DEMON the third book in the Hayton County Supernatural series. DEMON will be the darkest novel yet in the series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I do a lot of promotion through Facebook, but I also hunt down other websites where I can list my books and bring them to a broader audience. I also have a website which is handy to send potential readers to where all my books are listed in one place.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep chasing that dream. One day you'll catch it, and it'll be well worth the journey.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up. Always strive to reach your goals no matter how impossible they may seem.
What are you reading now?
I'm reading LOOK BEHIND YOU by Iris Johansen & Roy Johansen.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to finish DEMON this winter and publish with Kindle Unlimited.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
the King James Bible, FEAR NOTHING by Dean Koontz, BAG OF BONES by Stephen King, and the Graveyard Queen series by Amanda Stevens.
