Interview With Author Margie Ortega
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I'm a retired high school admin assistant and a member of Sisters in Crime. I've written three books.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
In Mint Condition. In 2013, my son took a required college course dealing with human sexuality. One day, he told me that he’d read that forty percent of women had experienced sexual harassment/abuse. Wow! That seemed like a lot. That translated to four out of ten of my friends. None of them fit into the portrait of traumatized basket cases the entertainment media had painted. I began to wonder what that might mean for a woman I personally knew. So I wrote a book about Maggie Chessman, "Turn Key Condition". Research along the way gave me details to add about unseen problems and her coping skills.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Playing video games between writing and editing sections.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Janet Evanovich
What are you working on now?
I've finished the third in the series: Turn Key Condition, Shampoo & Condition, and In Mint Condition. Now I'm starting on a historical mystery set in ancient Rome.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon campaigns and Goodreads
Do you have any advice for new authors?
The more you write, the more experience you get. Keep writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don't give up.
What are you reading now?
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun
What’s next for you as a writer?

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Pride and Prejudice
To Kill A Mockingbird
