Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Mark LeGrand Messick and I have previously lived in many different parts of the United States, including Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Idaho, Utah and Washington State.
I have published two books (which can be found here: http://bit.ly/17ktprK and here: http://amzn.to/15sYJ97) and just finished writing my third. I’m planning on publishing my third book within the next week or two.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest published book is titled: Ebook Publishing Secrets: How To Make A Killing On Kindle By Publishing A Book On Amazon. Basically, it just explains how anybody (and I mean anybody) can publish an ebook on Amazon and generate tens of thousands of downloads…all while making 70% royalties. The book walks the reader through the publication process and then discusses 13 unique and effective marketing strategies.
The reason I wrote Ebook Publishing Secrets is because I felt so lucky to have been blessed with so much success in the ebook publishing world and I wanted to let others know how to do what I did.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I write, I like to listen to classical music and chew gum. I don’t know why, but I’ve found I’m much more productive while doing those two things.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I really like the Kindle Publishing Bible series by Tom Corson-Knowles. It was his books that inspired me to succeed on the Kindle Publishing platform.
What are you working on now?
As I mentioned, I just finished writing my third book which is meant to teach Kindle authors how they can use HTML codes, SEO tactics and copywriting techniques to sell more books. Once that book is published I’m planning on writing a book that shows how anybody can write a book (and publish it on Amazon) in 24 days or less.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Keywords. This is the number one secret to success when it comes to marketing a Kindle book. If you can get good keywords and insert them into your metadata, title and product description then you can drive tons of traffic to your Amazon book page and therefore sell a ton more copies.
In the coming months I’m planning on writing a book that explains how to perform keyword research and how keywords can help you sell more books; so, if you’re interested in keyword research make sure to stay tuned. (You can do so by signing up for my email list at my website: http://bit.ly/ZHwgZF)
Do you have any advice for new authors?
To learn how to effectively market your book, create a marketing strategy, implement it, and then write another book and repeat the process.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To use keywords to drive more traffic to your book’s Amazon page.
What are you reading now?
SEO Black Book by R.L. Adams.
What’s next for you as a writer?
As I mentioned earlier, I’m about to publish my third book. After that I’m going to start writing my fourth book.
What is your favorite book of all time?
I’d have to go with the Scriptures. If we’re not counting holy text, then I’d have to say the Children Of The Promise Series by Dean Hughes
