Interview With Author Matsobane Raymond Komape
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Matsobane Raymond Komape, and I’m a South African author who writes from the heart. My books explore themes of love, truth, personal growth, inner battles, and spiritual reflection. I believe in using words to heal, awaken, and inspire people. Writing has become a way for me to express what many feel but struggle to say.
As of now, I have written and published several books, including Many Faces Of Love, The World Worships Lies Over the Truth, Two Realms, One Soul, and The Heart of a True Leader, with more titles already completed and in production. Each book reflects a different part of the human experience, and I’m honored to share that journey with my readers.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled The Heart of a True Leader. It was inspired by the need to redefine leadership — not as power or position, but as the ability to serve with integrity, humility, and courage. I’ve seen how the world often praises loud voices and flashy titles, but true leadership is quiet, consistent, and rooted in love and responsibility. This book was born from personal observations, my own growth as a man, and the desire to guide others toward a more authentic and purposeful way of leading — whether at home, at work, or in the community.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, I’d say I do. I often write in complete silence, either late at night or very early in the morning — when the world is quiet and my mind is most reflective. Sometimes, I write full chapters on my phone while walking or sitting alone in nature. I don’t always follow a strict outline; instead, I let emotions and thoughts guide the flow. I believe the best writing comes when I stop trying to be perfect and just write from the soul.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m deeply inspired by authors who write with emotional honesty and spiritual depth. Writers like Paulo Coelho, especially his book The Alchemist, have influenced me with their ability to tell simple stories that carry deep truths. I also admire authors like Iyanla Vanzant and Rupi Kaur for their raw, heartfelt reflections. But honestly, much of my inspiration comes from real-life experiences, conversations with people, and the emotional battles we all face quietly. I write not just from books I’ve read — but from the life I’ve lived
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m working on expanding and refining some of my previous books into Second Editions — especially Many Faces Of Love and Two Realms, One Soul — to give readers an even deeper experience. I’m also writing new books that explore personal growth, internal battles, and the journey of life. One of them is titled The Silent Battles Within, which looks at the emotional struggles many people face silently. Each project is part of a bigger mission: to help people feel seen, understood, and encouraged through the power of words.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far, I’ve found that combining platforms works best. Amazon KDP promotions, especially free or discounted Kindle deals, have helped me gain visibility. I also use social media — particularly Facebook — to share my book journey and connect with readers personally. Recently, I started submitting my books to free promo sites like Awesome Gang, Book Goodies, and Pretty Hot Books, which are great for reaching new audiences without a big budget. For me, authentic connection and consistency are key — not just promoting a book, but sharing the message behind it.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes. Don’t wait for perfect — just start writing from the heart. Your story, your voice, and your truth matter. Don’t compare yourself to others or let fear silence you. Even if only one person is touched by your words, it’s worth it. Publishing your first book might feel scary, but it’s also powerful. Be patient with yourself, stay consistent, and trust the process. And remember: you don’t have to be famous to be impactful — just honest, passionate, and willing to keep going.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I ever heard was: “Be true to yourself, even if it means standing alone.” That stayed with me because in life — and especially as a writer — it’s easy to try to please everyone or fit into expectations. But real power comes from honesty, even when it’s uncomfortable. That advice reminded me that your truth has value, and the right people will feel it when it’s spoken or written with sincerity.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. It’s a powerful reminder to stay present and grounded in the moment, which helps both in life and in writing. I like books that challenge my perspective and bring me closer to truth — the kind of truth that transforms from the inside out.
What’s next for you as a writer?
What’s next for me is to keep growing, both as a writer and as a human being. I’m working on expanding some of my existing books into second editions, and I have several new titles on the way that dive even deeper into themes like healing, leadership, emotional strength, and spiritual growth. My goal is to reach more readers around the world and build a strong community through my books — not just to sell, but to inspire, uplift, and remind people that they’re not alone in what they feel. Writing is no longer just what I do — it’s who I am.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded in a desert, I’d bring books that speak to the soul and offer wisdom during silence. I’d take The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho for its spiritual depth and life lessons, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle to keep me grounded in the present, Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl to remind me of purpose through suffering, and one of my own books — to reflect on how far I’ve come and remember why I started writing in the first place.
