Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Just one book. I’m a middle-aged English man living in Cornwall with my dog.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
‘How To Be More Productive’
It was inspired by me noticing my own behaviour and that of those around me. The way we go about our lives dedicating vast amounts of time to our work when there is an easier way. There is always a better way to do things, so I went on a quest to search for those better ways.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not that I can think of, other than maybe refusing to work before 10 in the morning, I simply don’t function as well then.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
None come to mind, just the genre of self-help in general. I suppose some of the classics like ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ certainly helped.
What are you working on now?
A second book, but I’m afraid that must remain secret
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have yet to find my favourite, this site is looking good though.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write. No matter what happens, just keep writing, you can always throw away what you wrote if you hate it. But don’t stop.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I honestly have no idea.
What are you reading now?
‘Superintelligence’ by Nick Bostrom and ‘Don Quixote’ by Miguel de Cervantes. A strange combination, but both great books.
What’s next for you as a writer?
More books I hope, and more reading.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
‘Sapiens’ by Yuval Noah Harari, ‘1984’ by George Orwell, ‘The Stand’ by Stephen King, and probably something long that I’ve never read before
