Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
How many books have I’ve written? Quite a few. I’ve written a few fiction books under the name Melissa Swaim and Melissa Rovelli and under the name Soror Syrinx. About 20 or so are in print right now.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
One of my latest is Still Here, a fictional account of a true unsolved mystery involving the Somerton man. Even though it happened during the cold war, the story is still in the news and advanced DNA tests are underway. Still Here is a novella that seeks to mix true events with imagined possibilities involving the paranormal and psychic spies.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes. I never write straight through from start to finish. I write some of the beginning, some of the end and then some of the middle, and then go back and flesh out the areas that flow easiest. When I get inspired, I add more and revisit the rest as the pieces come together.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
For fiction, I love Linda Howard. For esoteric books, I’d say Dion Fortune is one of my influences.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on another thriller called Intent as well as a book called Shadowwalker, Shadowweaver.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook. I’m looking for others at the moment.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep at it. Don’t give up. Some will be better than others, so keep trying and exploring genres and see what works for you.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t worry about what others think.
What are you reading now?
Looking for a good read right now.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Always something in the works. Always trying to stay inspired.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d have to think about that for a while.
