Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is the first book I’ve written although I have written several screenplays.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Art of Nonviolent Communication. I felt inspired to write it after I found myself repeating the same message over and over to people I was teaching NVC to. I finally decided to put it in a book instead of repeating myself so much. It’s amazing how many of us, (myself included) were taught to speak using tactics like guilt trips, subtle threats, demands, judgements and criticisms to get our desires met. With NVC you will quickly realize none of these are necessary or ultimately even helpful.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to do at least 10 minutes of free writing every morning and the things that come out are often fascinatingly unusual.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Marshall Rosenbergs book on NVC was a huge influence. Im also a big fan of Barry Eisler’s novels.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a book about helpful tips to creating a healthier lifestyle.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far it’s been word of mouth and podcasting that have had the most effect.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write everyday even when you don’t feel like it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Take action towards your goals now.
What are you reading now?
Demystifying the out-of- body experience
What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep writing every day.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Right Use of will
Conversations with God
The power of Now
