When I was a young child I was brought up on Enyd Blyton. Now I’m a grown up its writers like Simon Furman, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman and Robert Kirkman.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a horror/comedy story called ‘Not Another Bloody Zombie.’ This is the first time Ive written comedy into the story so hopefully I’ll be able to make it work. It’s actually proving a lot tougher to write than I thought it was going to be, however I’m still loving it.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media is a big help. Things like Facebook, Twitter and message boards/forums are a great help. I found promoting my work is probably just as tough as writing it.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t write a story what you think people will like, write one you would want to read. If you dont like the story you’re writing, no one else will.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t let the bastards grind you down.
What are you reading now?
At the moment I’m rereading From Hell by Alan Moore.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ve been meaning for a while to write the follow up to the Martian Journal. I’ve a few ideas brewing which I think would even make a good series. Although at the moment its NABZS I’m fully concentrating on at the moment.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A few Where’s Wally books to help keep me sane. Or drive me mad.
