Interview With Author Michael Weiss
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Michael Weiss; I’m a 50-year-old Israeli author living in Jerusalem, Israel. I’m the father of 4 adorable children and married to an incredible woman named Yael. I started my writing career as a journalist in Israel’s largest newspaper, but a few years later left the journalism world as I wanted to follow my passion as an entrepreneur. I’ve established several successful businesses, mostly in tourism and travel, which also allowed me to travel to over 30 countries and get fascinated by the richness of our world.
I’ve been writing 2 books, but only recently have I decided to publish them as a self-publisher by establishing my own publishing house, which I’ve called ‘Timeless Love Publishing”. My mission, through ‘Timeless Love Publishing’, is to bring the world closer together by sharing powerful, captivating love stories from every corner of the globe. I’m dedicated to curating and publishing novels that delve into the complexities of love in all its forms, set against the backdrop of diverse cultures, real-life challenges, and timeless traditions. I invite my readers to discover our world, one love story at a time.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is entitled “A Thousands Gates of Prayer”. For the past 50 years, I have lived in Israel, married to an incredible wife, and raising four wonderful children. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the cycle of hatred it perpetuates have been part of my reality almost since the day I was born.
I realize that while I may not have the power to change this painful reality, I have the ability to offer a glimmer of hope for a better future, built on compassion and acceptance. Through my writing, I aim to send a small beam of hope, and a lighthouse for acceptance and understanding.
My focus is on contemporary love, something I feel our world desperately needs. Love in its purest and simplest form, love as a foundation, love as a way of living. I firmly believe that love can be the catalyst for change and hope in this world.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I always start my writing sessions with a…gum. It takes about an hour until it’s tasteless, and then I take my first break to scratch my bones. Sorry, but you asked.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m following and reading books by different authors, as a pure enjoyment of reading other author’s creations. I love reading Karen Kingsbury’s novels, and have just finished reading her book ‘Forgiving Paris’ which I liked very much. I’m also a fan of Nicholas Sparks, who has paved the way for male authors to write romance novels, and he is a true inspiration.
What are you working on now?
I’m now focusing on the final editing of my second book, called ‘Sunrise Over Numbi Gate’ which is a novel taking place in South Africa, a country I’ve visited with my family a few years ago and left me speechless by the controversy between the landscapes and nature at its best, along with serious challenges of crime, racism and social gaps between white and black people, like I never experienced before.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media for now for organic reach and, later on, will be paid ads.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing isn’t a matter of muse, but discipline.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Well, I’m a big fan of Nike’s slogan – ‘Just do it’, as I believe what distinguishes between ideas and execution is the act itself. No matter how you do it, and no matter if you fail, as long as you “do it” things will always work for the best for you.
What are you reading now?
“It Ends with Us”, by Colleen Hoover.
What’s next for you as a writer?
While I am focusing on my own books for now, my hope is to extend this vision and support talented yet disadvantaged authors from around the world. I dream of helping them bring their love stories to life, offering a platform for voices that can inspire, heal, and remind us of love’s beauty in all its forms. I believe that together with such authors, we can create a collection of novels that transcend borders and build bridges of empathy and caring.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
These would be:
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
