Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a busy wife and mom as well as a Special Education Teacher when I am not an author. I have written two books so far both dealing with teenage social issues from a Christian perspective. My first book, If these stars could talk deals with teen drinking as well as peer pressure all folded up into a love story. My Second book, When the stars align will be going live on 15 January 2020 and deals with teen pregnancy and adoption.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called: When the stars align.
I was inspired to write this book from a discussion I had with a teenage boy I taught who had just found out his girlfriend was pregnant and these topics came up. I wanted to be able to reach other teens to know that pregnancy is not the end and that God still loves them no matter what.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love eating Twizzlers and jelly sweets when I am writing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
All the authors I have ever read in some way or another have had an influence on my writing. To name a few: Liz Isaacson, Judy Corry, Lynette Eason, Dee Henderson, Lacy Williams and I could go on and on even Robert Jordan has a place on that list.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on two books on is a Romantic Suspense that I am hoping to release in March 2020 and the other is a teen contemporary romance that I hope to release later in the year. The ideas keep on coming.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think at this stage Social Media and word of mouth.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep on, keep writing. I read an excellent quote on Instagram that said, New Authors think that its all been said before, it has but not by you. I think that is fitting for anyone wanting to go into the book business. Everyone has a story to tell.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Work hard and it will pay off. It does and keep writing even if your first project fails, keep on.
What are you reading now?
I have just finished reading Wild Montana Skies by Susan May Warren and Oath of Honor by Lynette Eason.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to keep on writing and maybe, one day become a full-time author.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
My first book most definitely would be my Bible, I wouldn’t go anywhere without it. Does my husband count as a book? My kids? No seriously, I would take Meant to be Mine by Becky Wade, Undetected by Dee Henderson and maybe The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan.
