Interview With Author Michelle Kssili
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Michelle Kssili, 49 years old. I am originally from Ohio USA, moved to France to venture out of my comfort zone. I love to travel, read and write. I have written 3 books: Lost in her blue eyes (Michelle Jackson), I have stories to tell (aka Amira Ahmed) and Travel Girl (Michelle Kssili). I have also created several workbooks.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Travel Girl is my newest book. Exploring the world and learning about new cultures has always intrigued me. I have travelled to Spain, France, Canada and Morocco. When I turned 40 I made a promise to myself by the time I turned 45 I wanted to travel outside the Untied States (outside my comfort zone).
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am the type of writer who writes what she thinks. When I read books, there are so many words that I sometimes find myself looking up because I don’t know the meaning. (That is not saying I am stupid). I am just simple I don’t like to complicate my writings.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There is no particular author or book. As I am all over the place in what I choose to read. One particular genre is not for me. I am open minded.
What are you working on now?
I am currently not working on any projects. I would love to write a children’s book someday.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My first two books I published with Xlibris Publishing. When you first start off and do not know much about publishing it becomes a lesson. My third book I chose Amazon KDP, a little more freedom there. To be honest, I totally suck at promoting my books. Marketing is not a strong suit of mine. I have posted my books on Tick Tok, Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
One thing I have learned is do not set the price high on your ebooks. Readers will most likely purchase more books at 99 cents than $5.99.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
My books were not selling, and I had an author tell me DO NOT STOP WRITING.
What are you reading now?
It begins with me by Shauna Spellman. True story.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I would like to publish a book to put in the Library of Congress. That Library has always intrigued me.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Golden Petals the definition
Playing for Freedom
Surviving my mother
Women who think too much
