Interview With Author Mistie House
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I’m Mistie!
I’m an everyday Christian woman who is a loving wife, creative mom, and child of God. Along with being a two-time Award-Winning author and painter, I’m an illustrator and host of the Beloved Bride Christian podcast.
I’ve written four books and illustrated all three of my children’s books. My book, Emergence: How to Experience Beauty and New Life in Dead and Dark Places, was awarded first place in ABR’s Book Excellence Award Contest for best in Christian Faith and Living Category/Genre.
My newest, published children’s book, Let Us Rejoice, was a third place winner in the Spring 2023 The BookFest Awards.
My passion is to guide gals to walk with the King through my testimony, teaching, and storytelling and help women EMERGE into who God’s created you to be!
I love spending time laughing and socializing with family and friends, exploring new destinations with my husband, and camping with our children.
I live in Amarillo, TX with my amazing husband Chris, and am a mother of two precious daughters—my shining jewels.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is my upcoming Christian children’s book “The Perfect Prize: How Jesus Showed Me The Way” inspired by our daughter, Autumn.
This book is based on a true story when our little lamb lost her way at the Fair. Thankfully, this story has a happy ending all the way around!
The Perfect Prize is about a little girl who can’t wait to go to the Fair in search of the perfect prize!
However, her story takes a few unexpected twists and turns when she finally arrives.
Just when she thinks she’s found the perfect prize, she loses something else!
In the end, she discovers something even better and more valuable than what she was searching for.
I can’t wait to share her story!
The Perfect Prize: How Jesus Showed Me The Way launches on 6-6-2023!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not unusual to me. I bet we all say that, LOL!
I’m a dreamer and a visionary. I usually see the story in my mind before I ever start writing it down. I have to get engulfed in it myself before I’m ready to share it with anyone else.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The late, Sheri Rose Shepherd.
Her precious book, “His Little Princess: Treasured Letters from Your King” inspired me to write my first children’s book, “The Father’s Princess: The Story of the White Daisy” an allegory of the believers’s journey to the Kingdom.
I loved reading that sweet book to my daughters when they were little princesses. They’re growing up now, but they’ll always be The Father’s Princesses—daughter’s of the King of kings and Lord of lords.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on launching “The Perfect Prize”
After the launch, I plan on publishing a new edition of “The Father’s Princess” and illustrating the second book in (The Father’s) series—my first book for little boys!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Awesome Gang of course! 😉
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up!
Sometimes, the work can feel overwhelming and exhausting to complete. When you finally see that book baby for the first time and witness it come to life, it’s worth the work and the wait. If you don’t give up, the day will come when you finally hold your new creation in your hands. Then, you’ll understand that feeling of birthing something truly special and original—that gift inside of you only you can deliver!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” ~ Matthew 22:37-40
What are you reading now?
I’m always reading the Bible. 🙂
Getting my daily dose of His Word is how I start every day.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. ~ Matthew 6:33
What’s next for you as a writer?
More words. More stories. More pictures. More books. More storytelling!
I love doing what God’s called me to do—Share stories about His great love!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I think you already know the first—the Bible! 🙂
The second—my own story about my life, “Emergence: How to Experience Beauty and New Life in Dead and Dark Places,” so I don’t forget who I am.
The third—my first book, “The Father’s Princess,” so I always remember where and who I came from—my Father, God.
