About Mothers of Pine Way by Corrine Ardoin
Ev Mendoza’s house is in flames. She stands before it remembering when life was good and when the family turned to her for a place called Home. Losing the will to live, her daughter, Candelaria, must climb out of the darkness of loss and grief and become that one person all the family turns to in time of need. However, she has her own dream calling her to become a writer instead. After her mother’s death, she marches to the state capitol to join in the farmworkers protest. There, she realizes her dream and is empowered to speak before the crowd. “Listen to me!” she says. “I know who you are! You are my people!” After that day, Candelaria’s life transforms and blossoms, just as her son, Jim, tragically self-destructs. Mothers of Pine Way will be $.99 on September 12, 2021.
