About Mrs. Quarterhorse by S. C. Marchere
Yet again I find myself writing promotional copy with the subject of that copy peering over my shoulder, loudly sipping her cocoa, and ensuring I not write anything particularly incriminating. “By all means mention the séance, and even our bestial ghosts,” my hostess generously permits, “but I’d prefer you avoid the sordid details—and stop describing my perfectly ordinary home like it’s the House of Usher!” Very well, from here forward I’ll stick to the most essential sordid details, and temper my descriptions of her perfectly ordinary stuffed python lair, her ancient ballroom in the cellar, and her parlour filled floor to ceiling with severed heads. “They’re mostly animal heads,” she reminds me, before slipping away to check on our maple syrup fudge.
Mrs. Quarterhorse is not the grim story I’m making it out to be—it is good company, as the lady herself calls her own favourite bedtime reads!
(Mrs. Quarterhorse is the first book in a five book series, and will be offered for free for a few days after its release, from January 15th-19th, most likely. The second book, Mrs. Quarterhorse at the Masked Ball, is also now available, and the remaining three books coming soon!)

Author Bio:
S. C. Marchere, author and illustrator of the Mrs. Quarterhorse stories, lives, breathes, writes, draws, and otherwise exists in beautiful Nova Scotia. Living and breathing are, sadly, qualities that can no longer be assumed of writers and illustrators in our gurgling swamp of AI sludge! Not one word of Marchere’s stories has been written by AI, nor even the tiniest dot on any drawing contributed by a hand other than his own. Whatever faults you find in his work are human faults. If you’re feeling generous, you might even call them charming!
