Interview With Author N.W MARTIN
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
N.W. Martin is a self-made author and motivational voice in the worlds of wealth, health, and personal transformation. After overcoming financial devastation and personal setbacks, Martin turned life lessons into fuel for growth—and books. With a raw, honest voice and a passion for helping others rise from survival mode, Martin has written six empowering books that blend real-life experience with practical advice.
Through memoir, mindset, and money, Martin encourages readers to face life’s hardships head-on—and build something better from the ground up. Whether it’s escaping debt, starting over, or finding clarity in chaos, N.W. Martin writes to remind you: rock bottom is a place you can rise from.
When not writing, Martin speaks to audiences online and in person about faith, financial freedom, and building a life of purpose beyond pain.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
N.W. Martin is the author of six powerful books that chronicle the gritty, faith-fueled journey from financial struggle to personal and economic freedom. A passionate voice in the space of wealth, health, and resilience, Martin writes with raw honesty, drawn directly from lived experience—not theory.
His latest book, Broke, Driven and Building, was born from a season of uncertainty, hunger, and relentless hustle. After losing everything, Martin refused to stay down. Inspired by the day-to-day grind of rebuilding from rock bottom—with no mentors, no capital, and no shortcuts—he wrote this book for anyone who’s still in the fight. It’s for the dreamers who are broke but not broken, driven but not yet arrived, building even when no one sees the foundation.
Today, Martin continues to inspire readers with stories that speak to faith, hustle, and the unshakable belief that it’s never too late to rewrite your life.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Writes in the Dark
N.W. Martin often writes in total darkness—just the glow of the screen—believing that shutting out the world helps bring the rawest, most honest version of the story to the surface.
Keeps a “Failure Notebook”
Beside every manuscript, Martin keeps a handwritten notebook filled with personal setbacks and moments of struggle—not to include in the book, but to fuel the truth behind every word.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Viktor E. Frankl – Man’s Search for Meaning
A profound reminder that even in the darkest circumstances, purpose can survive. Frankl’s story of endurance and meaning fuels Martin’s belief that pain can become purpose.
David Goggins – Can’t Hurt Me
Goggins’ brutal honesty, mental toughness, and refusal to quit reflect the same fire Martin brings to every chapter—writing from scars, not theory.
T.D. Jakes – Destiny: Step into Your Purpose
Jakes’ spiritual depth and motivational clarity continue to shape Martin’s faith-driven approach to rebuilding life from the bottom up.
What are you working on now?
N.W. Martin is currently working on his seventh book, a bold and deeply personal project that explores the silent battles people fight while building a better life. It blends raw storytelling with spiritual and financial insight, focusing on what it really feels like to rebuild when no one claps, no one sees, and quitting feels easier than faith.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon Optimization (KDP Tools), Social media.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write raw, edit later. Don’t chase perfection on the first draft.
Your story matters. Even if it’s been told—no one tells it like you.
Invest in a good cover. People do judge books by it.
Build your audience early. Don’t wait for the book to be done.
Stay consistent. One honest page a day builds a finished book.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever heard — and that applies powerfully to both life and writing — is:
“Start before you’re ready.”
It reminds us that growth happens in motion, not in perfection. Waiting for the perfect time, perfect skill, or perfect plan often means never starting at all. Whether you’re writing your first book, rebuilding your life, or launching a dream—you figure it out as you go.
It pairs well with another truth:
“Clarity comes through action, not thought.”
What are you reading now?
The 12 Week Year by Brian P. Moran – A powerful shift in how to approach goals with urgency and focus. It’s helping me rethink how I structure writing and business growth.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m writing my seventh book, diving even deeper into the emotional, financial, and spiritual rebuilding process. This one speaks directly to people who feel overlooked, overwhelmed, or starting from nothing—but refuse to stay stuck.
I’m also exploring speaking opportunities, launching a motivational blog, and building tools to help readers apply the lessons from my books to real life—step by step.
The goal? Not just to write books, but to build breakthroughs.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
he Bible – For strength, wisdom, and spiritual grounding when everything else is stripped away. It keeps my mind anchored and my hope alive.
Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl – A reminder that even in suffering, purpose survives. It would help me mentally endure the isolation.
Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins – To fire me up on the hardest days. If I’m going to survive, I need that no-excuses mindset close.
A Blank Journal – Because even on a desert island, I’d be writing. My story wouldn’t end there—it would begin again.
