Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a survivor of many things, including child abuse and sexual abuse (not from my family). I have decided to use my writing skills to make other survivors feel less alone and more empowered.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest and first published book is Just Breathe: Miracles Do Happen, a lesbian romance that touches on child sexual abuse and what it is to endure and survive it. The next book I’m working on is a book of poetry for survivors as well.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I write it has to be then and there. I carry my phone everywhere because when the mood hits me, I write. I cant just write at any time. I have to be inspired. Otherwise, my work comes out forced and unnatural.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There’s a book by Julie Ann Peters called Keeping You A Secret. This book has strengthened me as a person and kept me going with the strength i found through it. I have a couple of her books.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a book of poems for survivors like me who have been through many things. It will be called “Poems From A Survivor’s Heart”.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
www.iflowcreative.net – as far as promoting I’m getting help from iFlow Creative. Jonathan is very good at his work and very very patient.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Go for it. Don’t be afraid of failure because then you’ll never know. Don’t give up. If it’s your passion, do it. Nothing will be wasted on it if it’s your passion. No matter what happens in life, keep going. It will get better.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The only one you have to keep up with is yourself.
What are you reading now?
The most recent book I read was Keeping You A Secret by Julie Ann Peters, and I have read that one before.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My mission in writing is to help others like me – inspire them not only to keep living, keep going, but to show them that there’s more to life and they can do this too. They can fight for what’s theirs, find their passion and do it!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Keeping You A Secret, Anne On My Mind by Nancy Garden, and my own – Just Breathe (for the memories)
