Interview With Author Nas H.
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a cat person, a person who ponders philosophical questions, and a lover of horror movies. Due to my work arrangement, which involves the graveyard shift, I often find myself awake late at night, alone, pondering both profound and mundane questions. I write about these thoughts on my blog on Medium. I have written and self-published one book to date.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Our Journey Into Madness. What inspires it is simply the absurdities I observed in real life and at work. One day I decided to just write a novella about these absurdities but in a satirized manner.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m not sure if this is an unusual writing habit, but I like to write on my phone and edit the writing later on my laptop.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
One book that definitely influenced me was The Blood Guard by Carter Roy. I am not really into fantasy books but that book was very funny and it made me love reading, something that got me into writing in the first place.
What are you working on now?
I am working on the sequel to my first book. I am planning on naming it Our Journey Through Madness, as a contrast to the first book where the main plot was the main characters ‘spiraling’ into madness.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Since I’m kind of new to self-publishing, I am not sure what the best book promotion methods are, but I would say that submitting my books to either paid or free promo sites such as this one definitely helps.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just do it. Don’t listen to people who say, “Oh, that’s too silly, nobody will read that”, and all those things. From what I’ve learned and experienced is that there is always someone who is interested in your writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You can forgive, but don’t forget. Turn those people into the antagonists in your writing. And then, get your “revenge”.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading the Bible. Yes, really.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to continue to grow and reach more readers for my blog posts and book(s).
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
False Impression, A Prisoner of Birth, Watchers and Hell House
