Interview With Author Natasha Le Roux
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I’m Natasha Le Roux, a storyteller who loves exploring ambition, love, and the choices that shape us. I’ve published one novel, Caught in Ambition, and I’m working on a series of emotional, character-driven novellas. My stories dive into passion, suspense, and the complexities of human relationships.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Caught in Ambition. The inspiration came from a photo of my sons that made me pause and ask myself: Was my ambition worth it? It made me reflect on the moments I’d lost with loved ones in pursuit of success, and I wanted to explore that tension between ambition, love, and the choices we make in life.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have a few quirky habits! I write to music that matches the scene, scatter sticky notes everywhere like a detective’s board, and sometimes I skip straight to the scene I’m most excited about—because who says you have to start at the beginning?
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been inspired by a mix of authors across genres. From Nora Roberts and Danielle Steel, I’ve learned the art of emotional storytelling; Colleen Hoover taught me to write with raw, relatable emotion; and authors like Stephen King, James Patterson, Greg Iles, and John Grisham have shown me how to craft suspense, tension, and unforgettable plots. Together, they’ve shaped the way I balance heart, drama, and suspense in my own stories.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m juggling three exciting projects: finishing the final chapter of Ambition’s Reckoning, the conclusion to my Ambition Duology, writing two short, emotional romance novellas, and developing a brand-new trilogy. It’s a busy but thrilling time, and I love diving into different worlds and characters all at once!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice for new authors is simple: write consistently, read widely, and trust your voice. Don’t get discouraged by slow progress or rejections—every story you write brings you closer to honing your craft. Most importantly, write the stories you’re passionate about; your readers will feel that authenticity.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard is: “Focus on progress, not perfection.” It’s a reminder to keep moving forward, even when things aren’t perfect, and to celebrate the small wins along the way. It’s helped me stay consistent with writing and life in general, and it’s a mindset I try to carry into every project.
What are you reading now?
Torey Hayden – Twilight Children
What’s next for you as a writer?
Next, I’m focused on expanding my worlds and characters—finishing my Ambition Duology, publishing more emotional romance novellas, and launching a new trilogy. Beyond that, I want to continue growing as a storyteller, exploring different genres, and connecting with readers through stories that stay with them long after they’ve turned the last page.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on a desert island, I’d take a mix of stories that entertain and inspire. I’d bring Nora Roberts for her immersive romance, Stephen King for suspense and thrills, Colleen Hoover for emotional depth, and John Grisham for a gripping legal drama. A little love, a little tension, and a lot of storytelling to keep me company!
