Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a Hong Kong-based speaker, self-love advocate and conscious relationship coach with clients in Hong Kong, Singapore and USA. As a speaker, I help my clients understand what’s holding them back, find their voice, improve their confidence and share their story. My self-love advocacy helps my clients discover why they feel unworthy. I empower them to rewrite a new story so that they can love themselves again. As a conscious relationship coach, I helped my clients identify their unconscious relationship patterns and behaviors, improve their relationship with themselves and find the safest love relationship. I’m an expert at identifying the language of the subconscious which I credit meditation for. I understand the power of the invisible which is in the subconscious, which I bring to my clients’ conscious awareness. I’m a loving wife, mom, writer, event host and cook. I love starting my day with gentle exercise on my yoga mat followed by a cup of chai.
So far I have written one book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is WIRED FOR SELF-LOVE.
It’s inspired from my own journey of improving my relationship with myself. In the process I learned other people practiced self-love in their own ways. There is no one right way. The important thing is wanting it. You have to want to improve your relationship with yourself. When you align with what you want, you then choose a new way to be. This is what inspired me to keep going on my journey. Being on the journey helped me believe in myself and keep pursuing learning how to love myself.
It wasn’t easy. I found myself to be alone and often lonely. And that’s when I realized that I can’t abandon myself. Just because I felt emotionally abandoned as a child doesn’t mean I continue to do that to myself. I’m an adult now, and I (can) take full responsibility for myself, my emotions and behaviors.
Writing WIRED FOR SELF-LOVE was not just an opportunity to share my message with the world, it was for me to put tp practice what I was to preach the world to do. Yes, it was spiritual kick on the backside! And it hurt, alright. But this book was able to see the light of the day because of it. I’m grateful!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write spontaneous poems.
You can get a cup of coffee from Starbucks for less than $3 to wake you up for a few hours or you can go to your nearest Amazon Kindle store (without leaving your couch) and purchase WIRED FOR SELF-LOVE that might wake you up for the rest of your life. ๐
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Deepak Chopra, Osho and Paulo Coelho are the three authors that have influenced me and build that deep relationship with my spirit when I was completely disconnected from myself. Their books were my saviors. The words in their books spoke to my spirit and stitched it back together. This reflects in the way I conduct myself in the world with my clients, readers and loved ones.
I’ve read The 7 Spiritual Laws Of Success several times. It has 7 chapters that you can read and finish easily within a week. What I love about Deepak Chopra’s books is that the provides wonderful explanation minus the jargon. Plus he keeps the reader engaged with exercises. But what’s amazing is that when you reread it the following week, you absorb the information a little deeper. Reading is one thing. Studying and practicing it is another. I recommend studying this gem of a book. It’s a keeper. It’s my bible.
What are you working on now?
I’m focused on expanding my reach and my message through my book. People are looking forward to getting the physical book in their hands, some requesting for a signed copy, which is very exciting, flattering and humbling as a first time author. So that’s definitely in the pipeline – getting the physical book in the hands of the right people.
Writing excites me and I have second book idea which I’d like to validate. So those who read this, please share your thoughts. Growth is very important to me, especially in my closest relationships. Tension in relationships can cause a lot of stress. So my husband and I use humor to dissipate that tension because we want to choose to love each other. What that allows is for each of us to look at the problem/situation from deliberately a humorous perspective which changes the emotion of upset to laughter. It always brings us closer. Would a (humorous) handbook like that with real stories help bring more love into marriages and relationship? (Please share your thoughts/feedback to optimysticoachk@gmail.com with this reference point in the subject of your email.)
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I love Awesome Gang’s paid and free book promotions. It gives me a sense of how caring they are towards new authors! Buck Books, Bargain Booksy and Book Bubs are a few others. Other than that, advertising on Amazon and across social media consistently helps to keep your book on top of people’s minds.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes.
#1. The marketing of your book starts before your start writing your book.
#2. Remember rule #1.
#3. Marketing your book never stops.
#4. Writing your book is easy. But if you write an amazing book and no one reads it… (where’s the heart-break emoji ๐ )
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up.
Never give up on yourself.
Never give up on love.
What are you reading now?
I’m a sporadic reader. But my learning never stops. I continue to learn how I can master the art of results. I have manifested things in my personal life, I’m learning how to apply the same in terms of my professional life with experts in this field.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My new project is mentioned under What are you working on now? I would really appreciate your feedback.
Speaking inspires me. That’s an identity I own. Both speaking and writing help me inspire and empower others. So I continue to trust the journey I’m on.
