After two years of research, a new test is obligatory, determining if an unborn foetus will develop any future chronic illness, physical disability, or mental condition. Should any abnormalities be detected then the pregnancy must be terminated under International Law. The test can also identify if the child will become a murderer or serial killer.

When the mutilated body of a mother is found in Newquay, Cornwall, the discovery sets off a series of events with horrendous consequences. The Southwest only has one detective with the expertise to tackle the case – DCI Jack Tremaine.
