This true story opens in a rural, strange little town in Eastern Washington, where a young clairvoyant medium, Bernadette Gold encounters real-life demons as her life is taken over by an unsolicited spiritual initiation. In the first chapter alone, she begins having prophetic visions, is face-to-face with a real-life demon living in her root cellar that throws her 1-year-old daughter against a hot woodstove. As her daughter’s hands blistered, Gold learns she has healing gifts, saving the little girl from harm. If that wasn’t enough, she must deliver an unwanted message to the church elders about an evil presence affecting church members, who decide she is speaking to demons and must be a witch.

Returning to Seattle, Bernadette Gold, resistant to exposing her gifts of clairvoyance and mediumship because of the abuse she faced as a child, goes on a harrowing journey. After her 3-year-old daughter is sexually molested, she is forced to face her past and embrace her spiritual gifts, so she can create a stable life for her daughter.

Bernadette faces her childhood traumas, which include; a narcissist mother, a visit from a Catholic priest at 5 years old, trying to exorcise her “imaginary friends,” being exiled to Hawaii, a failed suicide attempt as a teen, being violated at a mental hospital where she voluntarily admitted herself for suicide watch at 18-years-old to healing from rape, an abortion and racism.

In the end, Bernadette learns how to forgive herself and others, finally embracing her gifts as a medium. As she begins her career as a professional psychic, she encounters another powerful psychic who has killed several children in a satanic ritual. When helping a client that has demonic attachments, she finds herself in a dream, in hell, toe-to-toe with Satan, until the fire alarms in her home wake everyone up, including her.

Spanning 50+ years, this story inspires others to keep going even when life is difficult.
