Colony’s Dawn by N. Joseph Glass
It’s a tranquil life in New Europa. Hopes to see beyond the domes lie in the terraforming project. Amid such optimism Gift and her friends start to suspect that something is wrong. Talks of conspiracies and lack of trust in leadership lead to sabotage. The foundations of society are questioned, and a group of everyday people face unthinkable challenges and choices.
This light sci-fi story centers on Gift Ojo, a 26-year-old with the joy and innocence of an adolescent. A Nigerian-Italian living in a colony where life is purposefully kept simple, and Gen-Maturity comes for most at about 30. Circumstance places her on a path, the hero’s journey you might say, to protect her colony and those she loves while desperately trying to maintain her values and virtues.
A story of everyday people becoming heroes. It has been described it as “a journey into the future and a new daily dimension… finding that the essence of life and its survival is grounded on feelings that are ever so important today as tomorrow… friendship, understanding, and care for others.”
