Interview With Author Nicholas Aragon
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hey there! I’m Nicholas Aragon, the creative mind behind the Curly Crow children’s series. As of 2023, I’ve woven seven delightful tales for kids, and there’s more feather-fluffing fun on the way. By day, I’m soaring through the world of higher education, but my heart truly takes flight when helping kids learn to read.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Ah, my latest book is “Curly Crow Goes to the Balloon Festival.” Imagine the joy of a Hot Air Balloon Festival – colors dancing in the sky, a whimsical journey for Curly Crow. Inspiration struck as I marveled at the beauty and enchantment of these festivals. What better way to share the magic than through the eyes of our favorite character Curly Crow?
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Oh, you know, I have this quirky tradition of wearing mismatched socks when I dive into a new story. It keeps the creative vibes flowing – a little bit of chaos for the imagination, if you will.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve always been inspired by the timeless charm of Dr. Seuss and the whimsy of Beatrix Potter. Their ability to captivate young minds is truly magical. Also, a shoutout to the classics – they’re like the wise old owls of literature.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m crafting more adventures for Curly Crow, of course! There’s a twinkle in her eye that tells me there are many more stories waiting to take flight. I am also considering writing books about my dogs, two Boston Terriers named Ruger and Loki…stay tuned.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Ah, the magic of the internet! I love connecting with readers on social media and sharing sneak peeks of upcoming adventures. My go-to website for all things Curly Crow is www.CurlyCrow.com – a virtual nest for all the latest updates and colorful surprises.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Absolutely! Embrace your inner child and let your imagination run wild. Don’t be afraid to take risks and remember that every rejection is just a stepping stone on the path to success. Oh, and never underestimate the power of a good cup of coffee!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Write the book you want to read.” It’s simple but profound. Pour your passion into your work, and it will resonate with others.
What are you reading now?
Currently, I’m diving into a sea of children’s literature classics. There’s nothing like revisiting old friends like “Where the Wild Things Are” and “Charlotte’s Web.”
What’s next for you as a writer?
More feathers in the wind! I’m excited to continue the Curly Crow series and explore new horizons in children’s literature. The adventure never ends!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Ah, the desert island challenge! I’d definitely bring “The Complete Works of Dr. Seuss” – can’t go wrong with a classic. Then, a dose of practicality with “How to Survive on a Desert Island” (because, you know, survival is key). And finally, for some inspiration and a touch of mystery, “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. A diverse collection for my imaginary island library!
