Interview With Author Nicole Redding Wilhelm
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m Nicole Redding Wilhelm, real estate entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and author of Own Your Space: How to Stop Renting and Start Owning Your Purpose, Power, and Property. I wrote this book as a blueprint to help people shift from surviving to thriving in both mindset and money. I went from being homeless at 19 to buying my first home at 25 and co-leading one of the top real estate teams in the country. Own Your Space is my debut, but definitely not my last.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Own Your Space: How to Stop Renting and Start Owning Your Purpose, Power, and Property was inspired by my own journey, and the millions of people who feel stuck renting, both literally and mentally. I wanted to give readers the mindset tools and financial strategy to build real wealth and walk in their full calling. It’s about property, yes, but it’s also about power.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write voice notes to my future self, and sometimes to my kids, then go back and pull lessons or full paragraphs from them. I also often write while walking, which helped me build the “walking listicle” style I use on social media. Movement unlocks my ideas.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Lisa Nichols, Myron Golden, and Russell Brunson have deeply shaped how I communicate both transformation and strategy. I’m also inspired by books like We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers and The 16-Word Sales Letter by Evaldo Albuquerque for their clarity and mission-driven messaging.
What are you working on now?
I’m building a full ecosystem around the book including a 5-Day Buy Your First Home Challenge, a 90-Day Homeownership Accelerator, and a podcast series featuring culturally competent real estate agents across the country on Youtube called the Mental Real Estate podcast. I’m also working on my next book, Invited In.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media and speaking have been game changers. But more than just promoting, I build community and conversation. I also use Amazon Author Central, ClickFunnels, and my own site MentalRealEstate.com to share the deeper mission behind the book.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write for the one person you want to help, not the crowd. You’ll most likely me writing for the person you used to be. The more personal your message, the more universal it becomes. And remember: your book is not just a product, it’s a platform. Use it to open doors, deepen purpose, and multiply your impact.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“You can’t shrink your way into abundance.” That line changed how I approached business, creativity, and ownership. When I stopped playing small, everything expanded.
What are you reading now?
I’m revisiting The 16-Word Sales Letter to sharpen my copywriting and Atomic Habits by James Clear to reinforce the systems I need to sustain momentum. I’m also always re-reading scripture and journaling with my own commentary.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m turning Own Your Space into a full course and developing my next book: Invited In: How to Succeed as a Real Estate Agent of Color Without Selling Your Soul. It’s part strategy manual, part healing guide for every agent who’s ever felt like they didn’t belong in this industry. Whether you’re just getting started or ready to lead, this book is a reminder that you were never meant to just “fit in.” You were meant to be invited in, to own your space, your business, and your legacy. I’m also preparing for more speaking engagements and aiming for TEDx stages to share this message globally.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible (I need wisdom, strength, and stories)
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
My journal (with plenty of blank pages!)
