Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My life revolves around my family and my one true love. I spend my free time reading, writing and feeding into my tea addiction. I am an addict for tea and poetry. There is so much more I could say about myself, but I would be writing a novel by the time I was finished. c:
I currently have only written one book as of now, Little Effie’s Book Of Poetry. It was published June 2013.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book, is titled, Little Effie’s Book Of Poetry.
What it is about:
Little Effie, so fragile and small.
A tiny girl of only three feet and five inches tall…
Little Effie is just your normal, sweet, innocent little girl…well, alright, she does have her little bossy moments. After all, she is a princess, just ask her so; she wears a little crown and tutu everywhere that she goes. And if you still doubt her, ask her royal cat, Miss Whiskers and she will tell you just so.
…If you set your mind to it, you can do it all.
Even as a tiny girl of only three feet and five inches tall.
Authentically written in poetic form,Little Effie’s Book Of Poetry tells of a young, little girl named Effie through her mother’s point of view. Each poem tells of little Effie and her family, and of course her royal cat Miss Whiskers. Through the smiles and the tears, little Effie will touch the hearts of all who read her story. From having tea time, to playing with pirates, from learning something new, to growing in love too, Little Effie’s Book Of Poetry has something for you.
What inspired me to write this book:
My mother was the first one to bring the idea of writing a children’s book into my head. I always have loved writing though, even in High School, my favorite class was English Literature. I loved writing essays and I loved the poetry.
I’ve had fun writing Little Effie’s Book Of Poetry. I have been in love with poetry for as long as I can remember, it has been a real joy of mine.
Little Effie reminds me of a younger version of me. When halfway through writing my book, I had realized that I delved into my past, and pulled out the little pieces of my memory that touched my heart the most.
I am sure there are many young girls, like little Effie out there, who can relate to her in many ways. Parents will even enjoy my book as well, there’s something in there for everyone; parents and children alike.
Although my road to writing seems like it may have come easily, there were a few bumps in that road. I didn’t get a lot of encouragement from friends, although my family were great supporters. I also had many…what you would call “mind-boggling” moments, when I would doubt myself and what I was writing. It has been said that we, ourselves, are our own worst critics.
All the hard work had payed off though, and I created a children’s book that I am proud of, and an unforgettable little girl that will touch the hearts of many.”

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, yes I do. When I am writing, I find myself in the mindset of my characters. And I will do certain facial expressions that they will do, and if I write that they are grinning or tapping their foot, I find that I will do the same.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
These three men right here, are my top three inspirations for writing. From the top, Edgar Allan Poe:poet, writer ;Annabel Lee, The Raven… The second man, Wil Francis aka William Control :artist as in singer/songwriter;lead singer of Aiden, Front man in his side project William Control… Third man, Ville Valo:artist as in singer/songwriter;lead singer of H.I.M., guest speaker at universities…
Edgar Allan Poe is one of my inspirations for writing because he is one of the greatest poets that ever lived. His poems were dark, deep, seductive in ways and intriguingly scary. His work was unlike anyone else’s at his time. That is what made him known worldwide. His life was a terrible one, everyone he knew and loved, died from the same disease. Hence, why he wrote so dark of tales. His poetry touches hearts and haunts them forever.
Wil Francis is one of my inspirations for writing because he writes dark lyrics that touch me in ways I never knew I could be touched. I can relate to his work in a sense that he writes from his heart. He went through a tragic break up in his life, which made him change and he started writing lyrics of hate, loss, heart break, torture, death and yet he makes these dark lyrics so beautiful. Wil’s biggest inspirations is Edgar Allan Poe, another reason why I like Wil.
Ville Valo is one of my inspirations for writing because he writes lyrics of love. Almost every one of his songs is a love song. He also went through heartbreak in his life, and he puts his emotions into his music so wonderfully. I can only hope to write as beautiful as Ville does his lyrics.
These three men have inspired me in many ways than one…I can only dream to put my work and emotions into my writing as beautifully as they do. They’re work is intimidating though I have to admit. But now you know who my main inspirations are for writing.
What are you working on now?
As of now, I am writing on a young adult novel. I don’t want to ruin the surprise of what happens or give away spoilers, so I won’t talk about for now. But you know my name, so be on the lookout for another book soon to come. c:
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
There are quite a few that work really good…..goodreads is always super good for promoting. Readers even get to ask the authors questions and be friends with them. Shelfari is also really good for that reason. Also, I find that Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook are also good places for promotions.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes, never give up just because you think that your work is meaningless or not good enough. Don’t worry if people won’t like it or not. As long as you’re proud of what you do, that is good enough. And always put your heart and soul into your writing. Love what you do.
Here is one of my quotes:
“When authors write from personal experiences, straight from the heart,it touches the readers. Their work speaks out to all who read it,and most of the time, people can relate to what was written. I have always believed that books can change people’s lives. Especially ones where the author is sincere, and writes deep, thoughtful, touching things from their hearts.”-Nina Jean Slack
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t care what others think about you or what you do.
Be honest and true.
Never give up.
Read and read and read, so that you may fill yourself with knowledge and become a better writer.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I love that book so far. My favorite quote from the book is one Mr. Darcy says, “You’ve bewitched me body and soul and I love, love you.”
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan on staying busy that is for sure. I honestly don’t know what will inspire me next, but I do know that whatever I write about, I will have fun writing it and be proud of it no matter what.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt and Tithe:A Modern Faerie Tale by Holly Black.
