Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi! Hailing from a city where literature thrives, I consider myself a budding writer. I have written many short stories and one novel so far. My short stories have been published in various magazines. I am excited as my graphic short story collection will get published by this year-end.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book will be a graphic short story collection on Urban life. It’s going to be a series called “Urban Chronicles” . I love writing short stories and graphic comics are trending.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I dont know if it’s unusual or not, but I write two- three stories at a time.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Many. I love reading Paulo Coelho, Richard Bach, Jefferey Archer, Sharadchandra Chattopadhyay, Premchand, Dan Brown and Chitra Bannerjee Divakaruni. I grew up reading Enid Blyton, Ruskin Bond and Roald Dahl and they inspired me a lot to write.
What are you working on now?
Right now I am working on the second book of the series “Urban Chronicles”. Also, I am planning to translate Urban Chronicles 1 into regional languages of India.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Haven’t yet found any. But I keep my readers posted on fb.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing is rewarding in itself, but getting published and reaching out to readers is a difficult game. You need to be persistent and optimistic and should have faith in your work. One day it will definitely pay.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Ruskin Bond’s advice “If you lose interest in something that you’re writing put it aside and do something else, write something else. Then come back to it later with a fresh mind” is one of the best advice I got.
What are you reading now?
The Most Beautiful Woman in Town & Other Stories by American author Charles Bukowski.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am trying my hand on children stories. Hope I will be able to amuse them.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Books that I have not read by any of my favourite writers I told you about.
