About Not in the Job Description: Landscaping. Detective work. Small-town gossip. All billable hours.
Tess Williams had a simple plan: come home, plant gardens, avoid drama.
The Hawthorne estate should be a straightforward job: ten acres of neglected gardens, one fountain that’s forgotten how to fountain, and a greenhouse with opinions about geometry. The new owner just wants everything perfect by his thirtieth birthday, which seemed reasonable until the estate started revealing things that were meant to stay hidden.
Now Tess is juggling aggressive greenery, a local reporter convinced that alliteration sells papers, experts who believe ‘close enough’ is a personal insult, and the town’s entire population of gossips (so… basically everyone), and one GIANT mystery.
In a small Connecticut town where everybody knows everybody’s business, the real mystery is how anyone thought secrets this big would never surface.

Author Bio:
After two summers battling trumpet vines (and losing), I discovered writing about gardens was infinitely safer than working in them. A Connecticut native currently exiled to the arid Southwest, I’m counting down the days until I can return to gorgeous autumns and summers that don’t require SPF 90+.
And like our protagonist Tess, I believe every garden has a story, possibly a secret, and definitely questionable decisions with a shovel. NOT IN THE JOB DESCRIPTION, my first novel, was an absolute joy to write, and I hope readers have as much fun reading it as I did creating it!
