Interview With Author Olivia Bryant
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Olivia Bryant, and I’m a certified nutritionist and health coach specializing in digestive health and wellness. I’m passionate about helping people improve their quality of life through simple, sustainable dietary strategies. Ultimate Low FODMAP Beginner’s Cookbook is my first published book, created to support those struggling with IBS and other digestive disorders.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Ultimate Low FODMAP Beginner’s Cookbook: Practical Strategies, 100 Easy and Delicious Recipes, and an 8-Week Meal Plan for IBS Relief, Digestive Disorder Management, and Improved Gut Health. I was inspired to write it after seeing how many people were overwhelmed by the Low FODMAP diet. I wanted to create a clear, friendly guide that would simplify the process and offer real, tasty solutions.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love to write early in the morning with a cup of herbal tea by my side. I also keep a journal where I test and refine new recipe ideas before typing them out. My best writing often happens in short, focused bursts after a quick walk.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m inspired by authors like Dr. Megan Rossi and Kate Scarlata, who have done so much to educate the public on gut health. Their science-backed, approachable style deeply influenced my own writing.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a follow-up cookbook focused on Low FODMAP meal prep for busy people — featuring 30-minute recipes and weekly plans for stress-free cooking.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve found that niche health and wellness communities — particularly Facebook groups and targeted email newsletters — are incredibly effective. I also use platforms like Awesome Gang and Book Cave during free promotions.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Start small, stay consistent, and always keep your readers in mind. Your first draft doesn’t need to be perfect — it just needs to exist. Also, be open to feedback and continue learning.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Clarity comes from action, not thought.” It reminds me to keep moving forward, even when I feel uncertain.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading Fiber Fueled by Dr. Will Bulsiewicz. It’s an insightful look into gut microbiome health and plant-based eating.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to build out a full series of gut-friendly cookbooks and eventually create a digital course to help people implement the Low FODMAP lifestyle more easily.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Blue Zones Kitchen by Dan Buettner
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
The Joy of Cooking — for inspiration and comfort
A blank journal — to write my own!
