Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Orsiela Wiese is a 47-year-old South African author. When her adult children left the nest, she started writing to accomplish her childhood dream of becoming an author. She has published five books on Amazon Kindle Direct in the past two years. Two books are non-fiction. One is a psychology book on child abuse, and another a self-help book on Dementia. She also wrote a fantasy, a paranormal thriller, and an erotica. Currently, she is working on a comedy. Her aim is to find the specific genre to please her readers.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Erotica Island, The Seven Tests
I plan to write a book in each genre to find a specific genre for my readers. Erotica was next in line, and a comedy will be next.
I chose this storyline because I needed to give the story more body and a decent storyline. I tend to do a lot of research before I write a book, and the storyline regarding a Secret Society guided me towards ancient promiscuous rituals. All seven tests are based on factual sexually promiscuous events from the past.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I get lost for days in my writing. My characters come alive, and they guide me on what to write. I write a minimum of 4000 words per day.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read EVERYTHING from ANYBODY. I do not follow other authors’ writing styles, I use my own. When I was eight years old I wrote my first ‘story’, and do not follow other authors’ rules, except for the obvious grammar and literary rules.
What are you working on now?
A comedy, but I do not want to say a lot about it now. My characters are still entertaining me… A lot!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing is just half the job. Promoting and marketing it, is the other half.
Lately the writing style, grammar, and rules became more relevant than the (fantastic) story itself. Get a good editor, because it is worth more than your fantastic story. Sad bad true.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
There has to bad, to appreciate the good.
What are you reading now?
When the Lions feed, Wilbur Smith
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to finish a book in every genre to establish where I should settle.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Living Off the Land: tracking, Building Traps, Shelters, Toolmaking, Finding Water and Food – Chris McNab
Unhinged: The Trouble with Psychiatry – Daniel Carlat
The Notebook – Nicholas Sparks
