Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I just finished the rough draft on my Copper City Chronicles series. I’ve actually written six novels, but Fifth Sun was my first I felt should be published.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest is Copper City Slag. It is based on an idea my best friend and I came up with in high school. We considered doing a kidnapping prank, but decided against it. The book explores the possibilities of why we decided it would be a bad idea.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I listen to music for meditation while writing. I don’t really meditate, but the music relaxes me.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m a big fan of Larry McMurtry. I love his series based on his home town, which is about forty miles from where I live now.
What are you working on now?
I just finished a rough draft of a book that partners the characters of Fifth Sun and Copper City Slag.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I prefer Facebook initially, but this site has given my most sales.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you love being around people and socializing you should probably do something else.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Anne Lamott’s advice to embrace “shitty first drafts.”
What are you reading now?
The Andromeda Evolution. It’s based on a Michael Crichton novel. So far it seems to be channeling his spirit.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope I find new readers.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Harry Potter
