Interview With Author Pall Thormod Morrisson
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have a long fascination with myth and legend as well as ancient philosophy and traditions, in particular Celtic, Nordic, Balkan, Scythian and Hunnic cultures. My ancestral links (Irish, Pictish and Hungarian) have contributed to this. I live in Ireland, near Emain Macha, the ancient capital of the heroes of the Ulster Cycle of legendary tales.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
‘Blood Oath.’ The tribal blood oath of the early Hungarians, as well as elements of Celtic and Scythian culture.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Probably not that unusual, but who knows? Waking in the night still half asleep to write down notes, except I try not to put the light on, and then have a hard time in the morning trying to read what I wrote.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Elmore Leonard, Cecelia Holland, Dorothy Dunnett, JT Edson, Robert E. Howard, Marshall Macao
What are you working on now?
Not made up my mind yet.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Enjoy the writing for yourself. If other people like it, that’s a bonus.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I can’t exactly remember, but whatever it was, there’s a good probability I never followed it.
What are you reading now?
Comanche by JT Edson
What’s next for you as a writer?
To hopefully carry on.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Tain Bo Cualgne, The Religion of the Ancient Celts, The Comanche Empire
