Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a romance writer from beautiful British Columbia. I currently live in a city that is famous for being known as the city of parks. Nothing like walking down the road and feeling like you are live in the country.
I’ve currently written 6 novels and a variety of short stories. Currently, two novels and four short stories have been published. My published pieces are:
Novels:
Her Lover’s Face
Not You Again!
Short Stories:
Wanted Courage (Published in “Flashpoint: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Flash Fiction Anthology 2019”)
Never Far Away (Published in “Rapture: The Inner Circle Writers’ Group Romance Anthology 2018)
Love from the Mist (Published in “Mystic Desire” A Supernatural Anthology)
Love Knows No Apocalypse (Published in “Mystic Desire” A supernatural Anthology
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “Not You Again!”
It is currently up for pre-order on Amazon until November 21, 2019. Most of my stories are inspired by real life events. Many people face devastating losses and struggle to cope with the pain. This story was an attempt to help people see that we don’t have to be defined by our pain, and we don’t have to reject future happiness because of fear. We can rise up and live beyond the pain.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Nothing super unusual, but I always have to have my trusty Dr. Pepper to give my mind the energy it needs to be creative. *lol*
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I would have to say my biggest influence is Nora Roberts. Her novels gave me a desire for Romantic Suspense. She creates amazing page-turners. I have trouble putting her books down.
Also, I met a fellow writer a few years back, Heather Teston. She gave me the courage to pursue publishing. Without her, I wouldn’t have found the strength to seek out a publisher.
What are you working on now?
I have numerous projects in the works. I have some spicy stories that I’ll be preparing for publication, but currently, I’ve been writing an episodic series that delves into the zombie apocalypse. I’ve been a zombie fan for as long as I can remember and figured that I might as well give it a go. They can really get your heart pumping.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think the best method would have to be having a street team. We help promote each other’s books on a variety of social media sites. Nothing beats having a group of people who love your genre of choice as much as you.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My biggest advice is to always believe in yourself. If you want to write, do it. If you have a dream, go after it. No one can stop you, but you.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you believe it, you can achieve it. Okay, I might not be able to fly(superpower wish), but anything is in the realm of possibility if you don’t let negativity stop you.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading my publisher’s newest anthology, “Mystic Desire.” I haven’t read the whole book yet, but I really enjoyed The Sweetest Magic of All by Alice Renaud. Her writing style is simply amazing.
I’m also reading the biography of my friend, Charlotte Lozano. Keep an eye open for her books in the future. She has a harrowing tale to tell. She will also be releasing a series of children’s books.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Besides writing more books? That’s a good question. I really want to start writing a blog on my website, “patriciaelliottromance.com”. I’ve never been much of a blogger, but anything that help promote an author, or a wonderful cause, can never be a bad thing. Right?
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The bible(best book in my opinion). You can never read it enough.
The Ultimate Survival Manual by Richard Johnson. You need a survival book, otherwise I probably wouldn’t survive. *lol*
Under the Dome by Stephen King. If you’ve seen the size of this book, you’ll know why. It’ll keep me occupied for a long time.
