Interview With Author Pavan Govindan
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m Pavan Govindan, Co-founder & CEO of goLoyl, a tech entrepreneur, speaker, and storyteller passionate about blending ancient Indian wisdom with modern innovation. With over 17 years of experience in IoT, healthcare, AI, and Web3—and six patents to my name—I’ve always believed that real innovation respects both the future and the past.
“Rama Code” is my debut book, born from years of exploring how timeless dharmic principles can guide today’s entrepreneurs, leaders, and changemakers. Inspired by the life and leadership of Lord Rama, the book decodes ancient Indian values and translates them into actionable insights for navigating the challenges of the modern world. Whether you’re building a startup, leading a team, or simply looking for clarity, Rama Code offers a framework for grounded, purpose-driven leadership.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled “Rama Code”. It was inspired by a lifelong curiosity about how ancient Indian epics, especially the Ramayana, continue to offer timeless guidance in today’s chaotic, high-speed world—particularly for entrepreneurs, leaders, and decision-makers.
In Rama Code, I explore the mythology of Lord Rama not just as a divine figure, but as an archetype of dharmic leadership—calm under pressure, rooted in values, and unwavering in purpose. I found that the dilemmas faced by Rama—whether about duty, ethics, relationships, or sacrifice—mirror the very challenges modern founders and leaders face. The book draws parallels between his journey and the entrepreneurial path: building a team (like Rama’s vanara sena), facing setbacks (exile, loss, betrayal), and ultimately leading with integrity and vision.
The inspiration came from wanting to bridge the wisdom of our past with the realities of our present—to show that leadership doesn’t have to come from MBA case studies alone; it can come from our own cultural stories, if only we decode them with fresh eyes.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, I do have an unusual writing habit—I often connect history and mythology with modern-day scenarios to extract timeless lessons. Before I write, I usually dive deep into ancient Indian texts, epics, and historical accounts, not just for storytelling, but to find patterns in human behavior, leadership, and decision-making.
For instance, when writing Rama Code, I wasn’t just interested in retelling the Ramayana—I was interested in decoding Rama’s leadership mindset and applying it to today’s challenges like building teams, navigating crisis, or staying true to your mission. I cross-reference these mythological insights with historical events, philosophical texts, and even current business case studies. This habit helps me draw parallels that are both practical and deeply rooted in our cultural intelligence.
It’s a reflective process—almost like time-traveling to learn how the past can guide the future.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
William Shakespeare
Kannada Authors like KUVEMPU, DA RA BENDRE
What are you working on now?
Part 2 of the book – Rama’s Code: Brahmastra is the second installment in the Rama’s Code series, where I draw directly from the original Valmiki Ramayana—specifically focusing on the war preparation phase of Lord Rama’s journey.
This book is not just about mythological storytelling; it’s a guide for entrepreneurs, students, and leaders facing their most intense, high-stakes moments—those cliffhangers in life when everything hangs by a thread. Just like Rama before the battle against Ravana, we all encounter moments that test our resolve, clarity, and inner discipline.
Through a blend of epic narrative and modern insight, I decode how Rama assembled his forces, built alliances, adapted his strategy, and kept his values intact—transforming these episodes into practical lessons for handling pressure, uncertainty, and final-hour decision-making.
Brahmastra is more than a weapon—it’s a symbol of ultimate inner focus and purpose. This book is for those ready to face their battlefield—armed with wisdom, not just willpower.
