Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written three books: “The Prince and the Singularity – A Circular Tale”, “Marlene and Sofia – A Double Love Story” and “The Algorithm of Power” (January 2018). The first one was quite short (45k words) and in retrospect I think it looks like it was written by a hippie in 1969, under the influence of an LSD trip but, to my utter amazement, lots of people seem to love it and have left glowing reviews (not all, though). The second one is bigger (75k) and a lot “tamer” and (maybe unsurprisingly) seems to have caused less of an impact on readers.
Judging from the reaction of the few people who have read it, I’m quite hopeful about the third book’s prospects but only time will tell…
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I wanted to challenge 1984 and Brave New World for the title of Best Dystopia Ever Written. The Algorithm of Power aims to unseat them from their throne!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Sometimes I cry when I’m writing but don’t tell anyone.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ll leave that for readers to decide.
What are you working on now?
Promotion.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I still haven’t found anything that REALLY works.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t get into writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Neil Gaiman: “When people tell you there’s something wrong with a story, they’re almost always right. When they tell what it is that’s wrong and how it can be fixed, they’re almost always wrong.”
What are you reading now?
The Algorithm of Power, for the umpteenth time.
What’s next for you as a writer?
May I answer this one in 2019?
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Three different survival guides.
