Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written the books, all currently available, and continue to work on new manuscripts. I’m working on a children’s book at the moment, inspired by and pokes fun at the tropes of fantasy and fairytales.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Faith’s Rise. It’s the third in the trilogy of …And All That’s In Between. For me, the three books have slightly different themes. The first being a serial killer thriller. The second is about possession, but with a small romance angle. The third has the feel of a superhero origin story, just no rights and capes, but is also the climax of three trilogy.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know what you’d class as unusual; I don’t know what is normal writing habits. When I write, I bullet point as much of the story as possible. If any lines of dialogue come to mind, I type it up. Soon it’s just a case of filing the gaps and joining the dots.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Neil Gaiman. J K Rowling. Brian Lumley. Jonathan Nasaw.
What are you working on now?
A children’s book, featuring my son as the lead character. It’s been fun to write. Just on the second draft. Third if you include the plot outline. Looking forward to putting it out there.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Don’t know. Still looking. Marketing is hard!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t get caught up in the number of pages written. Books can be short or they can be epics. Concentrateon the flow of the book. Look for constructive feedback from people, take it on board. Enjoy the process.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Neil Gaiman said not to worry about grammar. Don’t get bogged down by it. I’m not directly quoting him, mind you.
What are you reading now?
High Society by Ben Elton
What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep writing!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Good Omens, American God’s, Angelology.
