About Pitlochry and the Road to the Isles by Hilary Wheater
This is a journey through the Central Highlands of Scotland recounting the stories of the places as we pass through. A peaceful and beautiful scenery belies the bloodshed, slaughter, clan feuds, battles, and – good things – that took place here in the past. A fierce and violent background that bred tough, innovative people who, when turned out of their homes during the Highland Clearances sailed to the New World and made their mark wherever they settled.

Author Bio:
A pedigree Scot, I was born in India, educated in Edinburgh, Scotland, worked in East Africa, farmed in Scotland and then went to Australia with my young family. I spend my time between my family in Australia and my home – the Scottish Highlands. I wrote a regular column for the Scottish Farmer – the Diary of a Farmer’s Wife – when farming in Scotland and have written four historical guides as day journey’s over the central Highlands. I am drawn to the mountains where my soul is fed and my body rebalanced.
