Interview With Author Quico Vicens-Picatto
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a freelance illustrator and writer with more than ten years of experience in the games and fiction industry. I primarily work in horror, fantasy, and science fiction. To date, I have written and published more than a dozen role-playing game scenarios and one novel.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book, The Oracle of Yuggoth, is inspired by the work of authors such as Lovecraft, Arthur C. Clarke, William H. Hodgson, and Alejandro Jodorowsky.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I simply try to set aside some time each day, even if it’s just an hour, to write something.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
H.P. Lovecraft, Andreas Faber-Kaiser, Borges, A. Blackwood, Dan Simmons, Alejandro Jodorowsky, O. Wilde, Santiago Eximeno, A. Moore, F. Dostoievski…
What are you working on now?
I am currently in the editing process of my second novel, Ghatanothoa, the Forgotten One, and working on three role-playing game scenarios, as well as a few short stories.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
In my opinion, the best method is to diversify.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do what you want to do; there will always be people who don’t like it and others who do. Focus on the latter.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Stand and fight!!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to start writing the second part of The Oracle of Yuggoth.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Cthulhu Mythos, Jorge Luis Borges: Collected Fictions, The Neverending Story and Corpus Hermeticum.
