Interview With Author Ramon Batista
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a corporate leader, speaker, and advocate for purpose-driven leadership in the digital age. My background is rooted in engineering, hotel operations, and organizational transformation, but my true passion lies in helping others grow and lead with intention. I’ve led high-performing teams across diverse environments and cultures, and I believe leadership is a daily choice to empower others.
Leading Forward is my debut book, and it’s a reflection of everything I’ve learned about resilience, communication, and the power of people-first leadership.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled Leading Forward: Winning Leadership In The Digital Age.
It was inspired by the challenges I’ve seen leaders face—especially in fast-changing, digital, and multi-generational workplaces. I wanted to create a practical, motivational guide for those who are navigating complex environments but still want to lead with empathy, vision, and results.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes—many of my best insights come during walks or right after high-pressure meetings. I often jot down ideas on my phone, voice record thoughts while commuting, or sketch chapter outlines late at night. I also tend to write backwards—starting with the message I want readers to walk away with, then building the chapter to support that idea.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
James Clear (Atomic Habits), Simon Sinek (Leaders Eat Last), and John C. Maxwell have all deeply influenced me. I also draw inspiration from timeless works like As a Man Thinketh and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I appreciate books that blend philosophy, psychology, and practical application.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a second book focused on emotional intelligence and cultural leadership in global organizations. I’m also exploring a motivational book for young professionals and a special project around Latino leadership.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Goodreads and BookBub for visibility, Amazon Author Central for control, and Awesome Gang for organic reach. I also value LinkedIn for connecting with professionals who appreciate leadership insights.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes—don’t wait until it’s “perfect.” Clarity comes from action. Start writing and refine as you go. Speak from experience and authenticity. You don’t need to sound like someone else—your story and your voice are what people connect with.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
People don’t follow titles. They follow trust.” That applies to leadership and authorship. Build trust with your readers through honesty and clarity.
What are you reading now?
I’m reading The Culture Map by Erin Meyer and revisiting Start with Why by Simon Sinek. I always try to keep a balance between strategy books and human-centered leadership reads.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to expand my reach with more speaking engagements and begin coaching emerging leaders based on the Leading Forward framework. I also want to publish a series of bite-sized leadership guides and an audiobook version of my current work.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
As a Man Thinketh by James Allen
Atomic Habits by James Clear
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
