Interview With Author Raoul Michelle
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Just starting out, Puppet Master is the first book published in the Marceau Mystery series. Sister Morphine is on deck, Door of Perception and Haboob are written but not yet ready for prime time.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Puppet Master. My inspiration comes from all that goes on around me. In Puppet, I was intrigued by the role that China now plays in geopolitics.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
All authors have their own particular approach to writing. I’m not sure mine is any different. I write a first draft then go on with multiple revisions, until I feel the book is right. Although frankly, I’m always tempted to tweak it one more time every time I read it. Perhaps not unusual, but I feel I get my energy from the neighborhood I live in. The same one Hemingway spent time in when he first began. Unlike him, I drink a lot of coffee.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m particularly fond of Daniel Silva, David Baldacci, Patricia Cornwell and Lee Child.
What are you working on now?
As Sister Morphine is currently in publication, it deals with Big Pharma and a Mexican drug cartel. Being I plan on having the third book in the Marceau Mystery Series, Door of Perception, come out early in 2024, I’m buffing up the final draft. Among the many issues it deals with is fraud, especially in the world of art and medicine.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
www.RaoulMichelleAuthor.com. I’m also on Facebook and soon I’ll be on other social media sites.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Learn to deal with rejection
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never make the same mistake twice.
What are you reading now?
Daniel Silva’s “the Collector.”
What’s next for you as a writer?
Will be doing some travelling as I continue to add to the Marceau Mystery series.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Somerset Maugham, of Human Bondage
Charles Baudelaire, les Fleurs du Mal
Maurice Leblanc, Arsene Lupin
