About Refuge
Miranda Flores didn’t kill anybody.
But there are four dead bodies in the New Mexican desert and rookie FBI agent Jodie Layne knows the Salvadoran immigrant was at the scene. Jodie seeks only the truth. Her partner Scott Tanner wants vengeance.
Miranda’s only desire is a life free of violence. The bloody civil war in El Salvador that wiped out her family set her on a dangerous trek north to the country she was raised in, the United States. After crossing the border, though, she encounters a land that no longer welcomes her.
A narrow escape from a deadly government nightclub raid convinces Miranda there is no future for her in the U.S. With Layne and Tanner hot on her trail, she flees north toward Canada. How will she navigate a landscape in which every person she meets is a potential enemy? Who can she trust when they’re all out to get her? Where can she go when no place is safe?
Written in the vein of best-selling authors Gillian Flynn and Karin Slaughter, Refuge is a wild, fast-paced read that will leave its readers breathless.

Author Bio:
Jeff Kerr wasn't born in Texas but says "y'all" like a native. Despite a degree in electrical engineering from Rice University he does not know how to fix your TV. A medical degree from Texas A&M (yes, an Aggie doctor) led to a three-decade career as a pediatric neurologist, during which he rekindled a long-held love of writing.
Jeff wrote and published his first book twenty years ago. His nonfiction work Seat of Empire: The Embattled Birth of Austin, Texas was named one of sixty essential books about Texas by The Austin American-Statesman. He now writes heart-stopping thrillers that, according to one reader, "move along like a runaway locomotive."
When Jeff isn’t writing you can find him floating a Texas river or battling cedar on his small slice of Hill Country land.
