Author Bio:
Jan Cottrell, M.A., has devoted her career as a professional counselor to helping women build healthy relationships. She found that most women came from dysfunctional backgrounds where toxic behavior was accepted. Once they learned to spot common red flags, they were able to claim the love and respect they deserved. She wrote this book to share the skills and tools essential to creating satisfying interpersonal connections.
In addition to being a mental health and relationship counselor, Jan has led numerous workshops, trainings and courses focused on critical women’s issues — from building assertiveness and managing anger to forming healthy relationships and dealing with difficult personalities. Her signature program, Living an Uncommon Life, empowered women to pursue their goals confidently, cultivate rewarding relationships, and make impactful decisions.
Now retired, Jan continues to influence and reach out to women through her writing as she shares insights and guidance. Her previous book, Living an Uncommon Life, has already touched many lives. She builds on this foundation in her latest work, which is aimed at helping women recognize and navigate eight critical red flags that signal toxic relationships but are often overlooked, especially by women who grew up in emotionally dysfunctional homes.
Jan currently divides her time between Arizona and Mexico, where she spends her free time camping and hiking with friends and her dog, Tasha.
