Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have been writing since I was little. The first story I ever wrote was a Hercules fanfic based on the TV show starring Kevin Sorbo. I have only published one book so far, but have two others in the works (one in the editing stages and another 2/3’s of the way finished.)
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Murder in Stall #4. I have always been intrigued by murder mysteries and was a huge Nancy Drew fan as a kid. As an adult I love reading Mary Higgins Clark, so you could say that both played a huge part in inspiring me for this book.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write late at night, after my husband has gone to bed. I like to take notes first, and I prefer to write the main plot of the story and then go back and add in details and other things after the fact.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Mary Higgins Clark, V.C. Andrews, Daphne Du’Maurier, J.R.R. Tolkein just to name a few.
Rebecca was a book that I vastly enjoyed when I was younger.
What are you working on now?
A young adult book about two sisters who are so un-alike that they wish they weren’t related and wake up one morning to discover that they no longer are. The story unfolds as they learn to accept each other as is and realize that they love and care for each other.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Right now I’m still learning the ropes of this whole promoting thing. Facebook has been a great help at getting my book out there so far.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. It may seem like a lot of work and a long road, but keep at it and keep plugging away. No one is going to write your story for you and no one can write it your way.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t discount traditional publishing. It may not be the fastest way to publish but it never hurts to try.
What are you reading now?
Salem’s Lot by Stephen King
What’s next for you as a writer?
Next for me is to publish my next book, which I aim to do by June of this year.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Rebecca
Game of Thrones (any of the five)
The Lightning Thief (for light reading)
The Bible
