Interview With Author Renette Haramis
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I spend my days writing and reading and for fun, I read what I wrote, actually, that’s a lie I love to read various genres, my favourite being fantasy and crime novels. My all-time favourite Author is Terry Pratchett, I’ve read all his books multiple times. I’m from sunny South Africa, where walks on the beach are a great inspiration.
My favourite genre to write in is LGBTQ+ and Paranormal Romance but I do write conventional romance novels as well.
Many of my novels are based on an alternate universe called the Omegaverse, where there are Alphas and Omegas who are a human evolution species.
I have written five books, one is currently published on Amazon and 2 more will be released in the next 2 months.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Androgynous Love, I was inspired to write it as I am a great fan of Manga and Anime the trope for the novel is Omegaverse which is fanfiction based around a wolf hierarchy. And I wanted to try my hand at the genre.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Let me think, I first write in a scholar counter book, while drinking copious amounts of coffee, then I retype it into my PC, drinking even more coffee.
Basically, the amount of coffee I consume during writing equates to how long the book will be and how mindboggling.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Terry Pratchett has influenced me in the sense that I try to include humour and suspense breakers in my novels as his books were always amazingly humourous.
Anne Rice inspired me to start writing as her books are detailed and the way she uses words to get the reader to imagine everything is a great talent. I wanted to see if I could write anything as good.
What are you working on now?
Currently, I am working on the Sequal to Androgynous Love which is Hard of Hearing, featuring a new couple, with one of them being Jonathan Down, Andrew Pearce’s best friend from Androgynous Love.
And I have, Too Broken to Love releasing 3rd April on my Birthday and Wedding Anniversary, it is also an Omegaverse novel but is not part of the Omegaverse Tale series from which Androgynous Love and Hard of Hearing comes, there will be a third book in the Omegaverse Tale series, but it will only release later in this year.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I belong to quite a few Facebook groups and reading clubs, which is always a great way of promoting my books, and of course Awesomegang, com
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t just rely on your publisher, self-promotion is a must.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Try and try again, if you fail, you haven’t tried hard enough.
What are you reading now?
C.S Lewis – That Hideous Strenght
What’s next for you as a writer?
To write more books, I love writing and reading. My children also love reading and listening to bedtime stories hasn’t gotten old even now that they are older.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Well, thats not playing fair. I’d ask first can I rather select 1 series. Then I would choose The wheel of time by Robert Jordan I’d be set for quite a few weeks if not months if I only read a chapter a day.
