Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a native of Texas with two wonderful children and married to my best friend along with a beautiful Australian Shepherd named Dundee and a spirited cat named Summer. I have had a passion for writing my entire life and want to extend that passion in writing for Amazon Kindle. I have just started on this venture and have published one short read ebook of which carries a very important message and hope for as many downloads as possible. I am now starting on my second work and hope to have it up soon which will be somewhat of an extension to the first published book. I truly believe that with a passion and a goal we can all succeed in whatever we wish to accomplish…and my passion is the written word! It is my hopes that I can inspire, educate, and entertain through my writing for all to benefit and enjoy. I am so happy to finally be able to say I am a self-published author and have a long and wonderful road ahead of me in publishing!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My first book titled, “The Bullying Epidemic Hitting Our Youth: What Causes A Person to Bully And How Can It Be Prevented” is regarding the bullying problem. In the book I expound on what may cause bullying behavior to occur in the first place, proactive measure that a person being bullied can take to try and halt the behavior, and how both the bullied and the bully actually suffer with many of the same emotions but stemming from different circumstances. The bullying in schools has become an epidemic and must stop!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I carry a notebook with me at all times so when the creative ideas hit my mind I write them down, even if one should hit me in the middle of the night!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
In my past I have read many Stephen King books as he is a mastermind storyteller. Have read most all of Danielle Steel’s works. Love Ralph Waldo Emerson for his deep poetic touch as well as Robert Frost. Norman Vincent Peale is another favorite for his teachings of Positive Thinking and Joel Osteen. There are many others which have had a great impact on me but these are some of my favorites.
What are you working on now?
Am writing a short read on “Cyberbullying” which is somewhat of an extension of the previously published book on bullying.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have a Facebook fan page that I just started in publishing my first book. In the future I will most likely create a website, and I like to promote on Facebook groups as well as book publishing sites.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing, keep writing, and keep writing! Let your creative juices flow and just start writing…you can always go back later to edit. Pick the best day of time in which to schedule your writing and stick to it as having good time management when it comes to your writing will pay off in huge ways. Know that there will be mistakes, that there will be bad reviews on your books along with the good, but realize it is all a learning experience. And most of all, keep writing!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement (quoted by Rita Mae Brown) in which my Dad told me at a very young age and has always stuck with me…so very true!!
Another great one that has so much meaning is…. You need to have goals in your life. If you live without dreams, without hope, you will move through life in a very hollow way—Richard Boyatzis
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading “The Kindle Publishing Bible: How To Sell More Kindle Ebooks on Amazon” by Tom Corson-Knowles. This is a great book for tips on becoming a best-selling author.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Wanting to publish my future works on Amazon Kindle and may at some point in time turn some of my works into paperback.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale, “Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience and Finding Joy” By Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant, along with “Chicken Soup for the Soul” by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen
