Interview With Author Richard Powell
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
After working as a forensic psychologist for 40 years, I retired to write full time. My historical fiction series has been on Amazon’s best-seller list for 2 years.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My most recent release, Witch Dance was inspired by the rising gun violence that threatens everyone.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I use the Hemingway method. That is I begin each day reviewing the previous days work and it helps me resume the flow.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love the Scotish detective novels by J.D. Kirk. His style is close to what I employ in the Jergen County series, of which Murder Club is book one.
What are you working on now?
I am preparing to release the third book in the Tigers on the Road Series. It covers the final weeks of the Japanese invasion of Burma and the role played in stopping them by the Flying Tigers. On a lighter note, I am also starting the third book in the Pirates of Barataria Series. The time-traveling pirates are about to avoid the pandemic by traveling back to the golden age of piracy in the Caribean.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My Author Page on Amazon.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write and when you can’t write more.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t run with scissors.
What are you reading now?
A Snowball’s Chance in Hell by J.D. Kirk
What’s next for you as a writer?
Writing a second book in the Devil’s Playground series.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Boat building made easy.
