Interview With Author Rivan V. King
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a fantasy author and an artist. I love creating! That includes writing, painting, singing, editting and more! I’ve written the fantasy book El: What is evil in a world that is all good? so far and can’t wait to write more!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my debut book is El: What is evil in a world that is all good?
I started writing it when I was 14 years old and it has been a journey getting here – self-publishing it today at 23. I was eager to read a good fantasy book with fleshed-out characters, captivating plotlines – everything I liked about a book… I figured I hadn’t yet read one quite like that, so I decided to write my own and put my spin on my favorite tropes!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My unusual writing habits include drawing everything I can think of about my book – I’ve painted concept art, drawn the faces of my characters, realized outfits and made animations! And I will continue to do so because I have a lot of fun with creating!
What are you working on now?
A new book. A book I’m not willing to share anything about… yet!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing! You’ve got this!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Rest. Make sure you rest.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Not to be cheeky, but I’d definitely bring my own book – as I said, I wrote the book with this thing in mind! A fantasy book I’d enjoy reading and rereading is something I strived for and I got it! Lord of the Rings would be a close second, though 😀
